Cuatro [4]: A Series of Artist Interactions (which began with Carlos Frésquez' project) focuses on four local artists and creatives who will bring the Denver Art Museum’s pre-Columbian and Spanish Colonial art collections to life. Our second artist of the series, Danette Montoya, debuts her installation of Las Almas de los Muertos on October 18, and it will evolve over four weeks.

Through this project, Danette will explore the legacy of her ancestors and how communal rituals bring us together to celebrate those loved and lost through altar making. (Learn more about her project in the video above.)

Experience her work October 18–November 13 or come by one of the following dates to meet and create with the artist:

  • October 22 & 29 and November 5 ǀ 11 am–1 pm—Create an offering for future altar pieces in an artist-led workshop
  • October 28 ǀ 6 pm—Untitled Final Friday
  • November 1 & 3 ǀ Noon—Nooner Tour
  • November 11 ǀ 6 pm—Insider Moment

Cuatro[4]: A Series of Artist Installations is made possible by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
